Mission

Mission

Build and empower leaders who will collectively shape and create a resilient future within Los Angeles County.

The Los Angeles County Women’s Leadership Conference was born from a bold vision: to carry forward the legacy of empowerment and connection first sparked by The Women’s Conference, hosted by former California First Lady Maria Shriver (2007–2010). When that statewide event came to a close, a passionate group of women from Los Angeles County Public Works saw both a void—and an opportunity.

In 2010, a new platform designed to inspire innovation, lifelong learning, and community engagement among women was launched. What began as the Public Works Women’s Leadership Conference, with just over 300 attendees, quickly gained momentum as a high-impact event powered entirely by corporate sponsorship. By 2015, cross-departmental collaboration expanded the conference’s reach and influence, leading to its official rebranding as the Los Angeles County Women’s Leadership Conference. Today, the conference welcomes over 1,000 attendees annually from across sectors—government, business, and community organizations—and serves as a vibrant space for advancing inclusive leadership, fostering professional growth, and building allyship across all genders.
